countdown to paradise

I have booked a vacation for right after Memorial Day Weekend… all-inclusive…luxury resort…Dominican Republic.  One of my friends and I will be sipping cocktails on the beach…away from work…and most importantly, away from all the shit life has been throwing in our direction.

I am so in need of this vacation and at first, I was a little reluctant to spend a lot of money.  But in the end, you know what?  I need this.  I need this escape.  It will be worth every penny.

More than anything, I need the time away from work.  After sitting mostly idle for 2.5 years, I am now being pulled in a million different directions at work.  It’s what I wanted (to transition back to my old position), but I am now doing two different jobs.  And it’s just a super busy time of the year at work.  I think the bulk of the 3 projects I am deep in now will be over or winding down by the end of May.  I’ll be more than ready to do nothing but lay in the sun day in, day out.

I can’t wait.  I’m so damn tired these days.  It’s not from lack of sleep.  It’s just from running on all cylinders all day long.  It’s also from being emotionally exhausted from losing my relationship and not wanting another one.  Side note: after picking up my race bib for a 10K this weekend (the same one that I did with St. Elmo last year), I saw a couple walking in front of me and arguing very loudly.  It made me glad to be single.  Totally single=no boy drama.

Anyways, I have something to look forward to in 7.5 weeks!  Now, I just have to lose 10 pounds…piece of cake, right?  Or, err, stalk of celery, right?
